I also encourage my coaching clients to set a goal before the networking event The goal could include the number of new people he or she wants to connect with and the number of people with whom he or she wants to re-connect. I also encourage my clients to ask each new person for his/her business card and then follow up sending an invite to connect via LinkedIn.
